MODERN HAND ANALYSIS - Non-predictive palmistry: the modern approach to an ancient art
"Character is like a tree and reputation like its shadow.  The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing."
- Abraham Lincoln 1809-1865 American President

About Palmistry

A large number of motor and sensory connections in the human cortex (the layer of grey matter around the brain) are devoted to the hand, explaining why the palms are often called the "visible brain".

We use our hands constantly in our daily lives without conscious thought - eating, performing many routine, daily tasks and expressing ourselves, "talking" with our hands.

The lines of the palm reflect these constant flow of messages between the brain and the hands and to the trained eye, these lines can be interpreted, much like a secret code.

These lines form before we're even born, between the 9th and 11th weeks of gestation in the womb and are subject to change over a lifetime.  However, the skin ridge patterns on our fingers and palms (dermatoglyphics) are fully formed five months before our birth and never change, they remain fixed throughout our lives.

These skin ridge patterns are unique to each of us and reveal the manner in which we think and process information as well as our character.  The hand shape, skin texture and fingers are also fixed features and will never change.

One can choose to take a scientific view of the fixed elements of the hand, calling it a "genetic predisposition", or take a spiritual view and say that karmic forces are at work:-  that the soul has taken those first four months in the womb to assess its karmic script.

In a palmistry reading, both hands should be read and compared.  The active hand (which for most people, is the right hand) displays the personality we show to the world and how our personality has developed over time, and the passive hand shows our private self, as well as the person of the past.

What parts of the hand are covered in a palmistry reading?  Everything!  This includes hand shape, hand texture, length and flexibility of the fingers, the fingernails, thumb length, thumb flexibility, major lines, minor lines, dermatoglyphics and mounts (fleshy paddings found on the palm of the hand).

As the lines of the palm are subject to change and the future is fluid according to our will and not "fixed" in stone, predictions based on the lines have no guaranteed accuracy.  Hence the true value of palmistry lies in character analysis and the deepening of self knowledge.

What must be noted is that palmistry is a skill like any other and that anyone can learn it - you don't have to be "psychic", "gifted", or "special" to be a good palmist, you just have to be willing to put in lots of practice, time and effort to get the language of this art firmly entrenched in your mind.  Ideally, you should practice on a minimum of 50 people before charging for your services.
